Strip Forms & Flat Forms Newcomb Spring offers a wide range of form-manufacturing capabilities to produce flat forms, strip forms and flat springs. These components, often referred to as metal stampings, can be produced on four-slides, verti-slides and specially built multi-slide machines. Most often these forms are manufactured on power presses using a die set created for a specific part. Flat forms, flat springs and strip forms often are fabricated in conjunction with other parts and assembled to customer specifications.

Manufacturing Specifications
Production & Design Newcomb Spring is equipped to produce flat forms, strip forms and precision metal stampings in small quantities from sheet material or etched blanks. For large, high-volume manufacturing runs, we typically utilize hard tooling. Newcomb often recommends that customers order a short run of parts to verify a component’s functionality, thereby avoiding costly design errors.
The extensive variety of equipment we utilize to produce flat forms and strip forms, combined with our use of form tools, allows Newcomb Spring to create complex shapes as well as produce die sets that can be used for cutting, etching, extruding, notching, swedging, stamping and more. Our facilities also offer primary and secondary operation departments, which work to produce components of short-order flat forms made from blanks produced by etching, EDM or simple dies.
Whenever possible, strip forms and flat forms should be designed to bend against the grain of material (i.e. perpendicular to the grain) to improve life expectancy and reduce the risk of fracturing.
Material Considerations Newcomb Spring is capable of manufacturing parts using any material, although we typically produce flat forms and strip forms from continuous coil material.
